Welcome to Reefs.org's February Photo Contest: BLACK and WHITE!
Here's a contest to really test your photographic eye. It's a bit off the beaten path and really makes you focus on form and shape and composition, rather than the beautifully gaudy colors in our tanks. So let's see some fantastic black & white underwater photography!!

This submission period ends on 12:00 AM EST Monday (Sunday/Monday midnight) February 22, 2004.


Prizes
First place wins a $25 gift certificate, generously donated by Reefs.org's sponsor Marine Depot.


Runner up wins their choice of Reefs.org merchandise from the Reefs.org Store.

Please refer to the Contest Rules for more information about how to enter. Each member may submit up to 2 entries per contest. PLEASE remember not to put borders around your photos. Your photos will NOT be considered for the finalists if they have borders of any sort. You may put copyright notification on the photo itself, but please keep it small and unobtrusive.

Please submit your entry in this thread only. Photos not submitted to this thread will not be considered for the photo contest. Photos that have no relevance to this contest will be removed. General comments or posts without a photo attached will also be deleted from this thread. If you'd like to discuss the contest, please start another thread.

Comment: This is a color photograph. Chicago has had a lot of snow. This particular aquarium uses natural lighting, and therefore, has no backing. This makes for some unusual photos. Here, snow is the background. Since there have been contests named “red” and “blue”, this photo seems to fit the rules for a contest called “black and white” since it is never stated the photo must be shot on black and white film or de-saturated in photo shop. If not, I will withdraw the photo and submit another.

Picture was taken with the camera set to black and white, not a photoshop conversion. This clam is just switching from sperm to eggs.

Comment: This picture sucks, but it shows the same clam now producing eggs. You can see them over the mantle of the clam to the right of the exhalant siphon.
