In this reef so far I have two leather corals, one large one that was given to me by a friend (which outgrew his tank) and a small cutting of yellow fiji leather. Also assorted mushrooms are pictured, a mat of green star polyps and recent addition of a brain coral. In the front there are three clams, the far right a crocea, the middle a derasa, and the far right is a maxima electric blue (the maxima is only four days old, but is opening up more every day :) And of course the fish! One small juvi imperator who seems to hate picking at corals which is great for me, a tricolor and bartlett anthias, a hippo tang, a sailfin, purple pseudo, a flame hawk and a longnose hawk, a pair of percula clowns, and a cleaner wrasse. Aragonite sand mixture base. Half the live rock is old rock from my old FOWLR tank, the other half is about 60 lbs of three months cured live rock that was added about a month ago to the tank. Micro Plankton feedings three times a week, water changes twice per week make for a clean tank. I don't really use any supplements yet but am open to advice as to how to go about this. Since I do a lot of water changes, I believe the supplement levels are good since the corals are thriving, but I would appreciate any feedback. I have a venturi skimmer, a uv sterilizer and a wet dry sump underneath the tank (no bio balls) 400 watts of power compact lighting is currently on top of the tank, though I hope to go higher. I plan on adding a couple zooanth. species, some polyp rocks, a hammer coral, an elegance coral, and maybe another clam. I am also hoping to put in some pumping xenia in the future, along with another open brain coral and who knows, SPS, maybe

Thanks for looking guys

My wife is always hounding me to get more fish in my 75. I personally love the look of your tank but I would be afraid of the high fish content.

yeah the high fish content I thought about but I am crazy about the fish I have and don't want to get rid of any of them, and with the frequency of water changes, the tank seems to do pretty well balancing itself. But my emporer is going to grow and I know he is going to get nasty.

But by that time, hopefully the tank will grow as well

Beautiful!
Questions:
How is the Bio load on that tank?

How often are you doing water changes?

Your tank looks really nice, especially its very clean but these tangs and the angel needs much more room than a 75gal tank

bio load is pretty much ok, no nitrate problems, phosphates are 0, and water changes are done two to three times per week. As for the comment regarding the fish, the only guy that is really going to have a problem is the imperator, I have housed yellow tangs and sailfins in these setups for years with no problems, and as the imperator is only a baby, he has proved to be pretty harmless.

i m not talking about the bioload or the aggression, i am talking about the growth, small tanks stunt tangs growing and i cant call a non-growing fish healthy, thats your choise tho. Exept the stunting growing, i dont see any problems but thats not what i would do to a fish that i love...

OK so I finally got rid of the imperator (well not rid persay, but gave to a friend so I can still see him grow) and also one of the anthias, the bio load thus cut significantly. I have added a few brain coral species that have done well and I am happy to report that my clams have all attached to rock and are growing new white shell growth! The brains are awesome to check out at night, whenm they blow up or stretch little feelers to get food in the water column. Over the next few weeks I will be adding a refugium along with a turboflotor protein skimmer. I currently have a Amiracle and while I am happy with the results, i have heard great things about the turboflotor skimmer..........and great for a 75 gallon Tank.

Check out these new pics!

P.S. Can anyone recommend a good place to get some stuff to add to your refugium i.e. macroalgaes, snails, critters etc.........

What PCs are you running? Wattage?

Nice looking tank. Makes me want to go buy the 75gal setup they have at the LFS.

55x8 Power Compacts, Daylight and 50/50 combo. Does well and not that hot under the canopy as compared to Halides which are scorchers.

Thanks for the compliments

Tank looks great, I like the brain in the front middle, and I would give some time for grow out---looks like a lot of the species you selected will most likely cover most of your rock in a year or so, but I like the aquascaping done on the tank, especially with the holes for the fish to swim through. Make sure you have lots of movement----powerheads, anything, and watch out for the slime algae, consider a refugium if you do not already have one, a couple of mangroves and some cath. algae can make a world of difference in the health of your corals and fish :)

P.S. What kind of starfish do you have moving around in there?

But by the way, I am not really sure or not, but I thought I saw a flower pot coral in that pic (on the bottom left). I hear bad stories about their success rate in captivity. :)

Well a couple weeks have gone by and the tank is doing great, I added some new macros to the refug which have brought the nutrient levels down even lower to inhibit the bad algae growth. The soft corals are growing faster than I can watch them grow, and the brain corals are doing awesome. My derasa had some problems a month ago but from the picture, you can see that he has made a full recovery. The zoos and polyps are starting to take off, and the mushrooms seem to have a mid of their own attaching wherever there is an open space.

Check out these new pics:
