Hello everyone!

A user emailed me recently and had a fantastic idea. Why don't we post our camera equipment, processing equipment, etc. That way when someone has a question, they can post here in the forum, but also maybe know who to look toward for specific help. Or also just so we know what everbody is shooting. :D

Let's try and use the following format to keep it straight and easy to understand (Feel free to cut & paste):

  • Camera Manufacturer:
    Camera Model:
    Digital or Film? :

  • I've been a serious photographer for about 3 years now. I've gone through a 2MP Sony, a 4MP Minolta, and am currently in love with my Canon. It's a fantastic camera. I've got the 18-55EF lens (came in the kit) and a 75-300EF zoom lens. Of course I'm glad to help out anyone in any way I can! :D

Other / Misc. Comments: This was a great camera, and in many ways it still is, the 10X optical zoom is a really nice feature, and the fact that it records directly onto a 3.5 disk makes it extremely web friendly, although it has about a third of a megapixel, and no white light overide which when it comes to aquariums can be a real pain. Good camera when I got it something like 3 years ago for about $400, but a dino compared to whats available now ;)

Camera Model: F90x body now. N70 body bit the dust after being dropped off a cliff.
Digital or Film? : Film, usually Velvia 50 or E100VS for tank shots

Editing Software: Photoshop CS

Other / Misc. Comments: Currently own and use the Nikkor 20mm and Nikkor 28-105mm lens. Also have a 70-300m Sigma I use much less. SB-28 Flash with off-camera sync cord. Have the reversing ring for 20mm and 28-105 lenses. Bogen tripod with macro slide rail for easy focusing when shooting extreme macros.

Also have Nikonos V with 35mm, single SB-105 strobe, and various extension tubes to reach 1:3, 1:2, 1:1 and ~1.5:1.

Have been playing around with an old Burke & James 4x5, with a 127mm lens off an old Crown Graphic recently.

Slide scanner: Use dedicated Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400 with native software.

Camera Model : Coolpix 880

Digital or Film? : Digital, baby!

Editing Software : Photoshop 7.0

Other / Misc. Comments : Going on 3+ years now, this camera is great for everything except motion shots w/o flash, which is starting to grate on me given the excellent shots seen in this forum. However, it's been nice to not have to upgrade to another 'regular' digital. The next camera I'll get is D-SLR, but with this I can still get photo-quality 8x10's on my printer. Highly recommended to everyone just starting out.

Peace,

Chip
