a point a shoot i say you can get a good one for about $300 or so

for something like mine ,which would be around $500 for the body and $300+ for lens all depends on which lens ofcourse

If you want something like what pedro and twinreef are using ,then dont tell the hubby the price youll spend well over $2000 :shhh:

i have the Canon Rebel xti...It's a great entry level Digital SLR i think it's around $600 for the body and I paid about $400 for the macro lense. I have the equipment to take good macros, but the talent and know how is an entirely different issue lol. These guys take amazing photos, which takes alot of practice.

Thank you guys, I'd like some more choices as well as the three above. I don't expect to ever get pics like the ones Pedro, Twinreef, Jhale,Jabol and some others here, but I'd like to be able to take pics that people can actually see what they are looking at.lol

Keep in mind that the camera is only part of the equation. The lens are sometimes worth more than 3x the camera body. Something to think about.

With practice you can accomplish some great images. Add a little user input and you can get excellent photos.

I'm not looking to get top of the line. I'm no photographer, I just want to be able to take pics of my corals and fish that are recognizable. And that the colors show up. The camera I now have is a bit old, and it is just the little point and shoot with 3 pixel. Fine for general family in the back yard pics, but doesn't do anything with my corals. And to boot my tank is a bow front.
Dumb question, but what do you mean "Add a little user input"?

Guys - Gals RadioShackhas this camer I was wondering what your thoughts on it are.

7MP DITAL CAMERA WITH POWERFUL 10X OPTICAL ZOOM
Powerful zoom gets you amazingly close. Versatile-uses both xD and SD memory cards. Digital image , stabilization, 2.5" LCD screen. S700

I know it is not the best just by the price, but do you think I can get pics of my zoas, and other corals that the colors will show true? Also be able to catch pics of the fast swimmers?
Thank you for taking the time to read my posts.

canon makes great point and shoot cameras.... just make sure it also has a macro setting before you buy, which it should have.... if your not looking to go crazy with photography that canon camera would be nice... just pic yourself up a tripod while ur there ;)...

Tonys right, I used a canon SD500 for a year to post pics with. it does a great job if you know what your doing and can change the settings.

Thanks guys/gals. The one I had posted previously is a Fujifilm camera. Sorry I forgot to put the brand in the post. So I shouldn't get that one? Look for the canon instead?
