Help with posting pics

I am new to digital photography and it took me 1/2 hour to figure out how to get my picture under 256k,but when I posted it (finally)it was huge. How do I cut the size of the posting piture down?

You'll need some photo editting program. Photoshop is the most popular and common program, but your camera should have its own too (perhaps a version of photoshop). Resizing is a easy process. Simply find "image size" in whatever program you're using (in Photoshop, it's found in the menu image -> image size). Then resize the photo down to 640 pixels width, and you're done. You can also vary the file size by altering the saved jpeg file quality (program should ask you what quality you want to save it at when saving).
