I have a couple suggestions for the Photo section of the reefs bbs.

Would there be enough interest in UW photos to justify a separate board? I think it would be nice if there was a board where people could post UW photos and talk about scuba, etc.

Secondly would there be interest in making a 'photosig' type of system where people could upload their pictures in a portfolio and allow others to comment on their pictures? It seems that in the current BBS system, nice pictures get "lost" over time due to the fact that threads get old and become unread. While both systems work, it seems like a photosig or ofoto type of system would be better for sharing and viewing photos.

A UW photo SIG forum would generate too little traffic to merit starting it up. Feel free to post any UW photog here; I know I for one like to see them.

A scuba SIG forum is an interesting idea and we'll bounce that around. At this point, reefs.org isn't interested in adding more forums since the current phpbb version doesn't allow us to collaspe directories. But the next version should and we'll look into more SIG forums for our members. You have to promise me that you'll use them though ;)

As for the photo rating system, this has been under consideration for a while but we are still debating it's merits. We'll let our members know of this feature should we decide to implement it. Subscribe to the newsletter to stay informed of new features to this site. A lot of exciting features are coming to our resource (on top of all that's been already added to our site the past 6 months).

Thanks for the suggestions. Now post some pics will ya? :P

I started scuba about a year ago. I'm pretty much a newB but have dived in Catalina and Maui (Molokini island). Are there many divers in rdo?

ooh drysuit. I've always wondered what it would be like to dive in a drysuit. Do you have to wear more weight using a drysuit? How much do those rent for or do you own your own?

bought our own (ebay), have dove with it in fresh water a couple times, for my size (big), I actualy think i'll end up with less weight than with a 2pc 7mm suit, based on what i needed in fresh water.

some people i've talked to, need 5-6lb more than they do with wetsuit

the biggest plus so far (other than warm & dry) is range of motion, dont feel like i can't move my arms much like it felt in 2pc 7mm (granted, they were rentals, so didnt fit as good as they should).

I'm a diver and UW photographer also. A few of my photos are featured in the RDO wallpaper.

I've dove all over the place.

Cheers
