Had this guy for several years now. Lost it's "crown" once but regrew it and retained it's red coloration. They don't usually fare well in captivity, but this guys rambo. It's layed down a good amount of new shell.
Wow, smokin' shot, Len! (BTW, I think it was you that got me hooked on photosig, if I remember right. You submit there, correct?)
I love the strong diagonal created with the out of DOF mushroom in the foreground. As it was downloading, I started to think that I would have cropped the top a lot tighter to the worm's fan, but then when I saw the mushroom I realized that that negative space at the top serves to balance out the shot and does a really good job of it. I think it would be too overpowering if it weren't for that one little area of live rock in the upper-left that breaks up the field just enough. 3TU.
I will have to respectfully disagree with some of the comments of the previous poster, as I think the negative space up top could be trimmed down quite a bit. The bright red spot in the top left is somewhat distracting, imo, and might be better left out or cloned out. If you had maybe a longer lens, I think the composition would be more dramatic if you could zoom in tighter on the actual worm itself. I've seen your other work and enjoy them immensely...this one could be better . 2 thumbs up .
