For those of you looking for a bargain camera that takes great macro and stills for the aquarium take a look at these. It's not the best camera for indoor or action shots but good enough for for taking pictures of corals:

Incredible tank John! I vividly remember your "reflections" shots and am really glad to see new pics of your tank. Looking good as always (shots and the tank itself ;) )

O, one question: Is that orange thing in the bottom left of your tank a Fungia?

John,

You really put that CP2500 to work. Nice shots from a very affordable camera.

Len thanks and yes that's a fungia - I love those things and am surprised they don't cost so much considering that there really aren't too many orange corals. When you do see them they're an off color but do color up nicely in our tanks.

By thinger you meant the tank right LOL? The tank uses both sunlight (about 5 hours a day in the sunroom) supplemented by 2 x 400 watt sakis.

James yeah I think this camera is a great candidate for those looking to get a good entry level camera that doesn't cost more than the tank 8O LOL. I just checked amazon and they have it for $229 and used ones for about $170.

I've been using a coolpix 950 for the last 3 years and I bought this 2500 for my wife about a year ago since she thought it was cute and small enough to carry around. Guess I've been slowly using it more and more because it has a much better color balance than the 950. It's not as capable as the 950 with many manual options but heck it produces :D
