Congrats A on the bouncing baby clam!
Do you know if it's true that you need to feed them when they're under 3"?
I'm thinking about getting one when I change/upgrade the lighting on the cube.

Thank you guys. Thanks Deano for answering Kat's Question.

So far my new baby is doing nicely. It attached itself the 2nd. day in my tank. I guess that is a good sign.

I've heard from 2.5" to 3" you must feed them. I think it's better to feed than not, so look into getting some phyto. I was also told it's good to feed the clams when they go into a new home no matter what the size, helps with acclimation.

Hearsay, based on old scientific studies which may or may not have been accurate at their time of release. At least that's what I read in Giant Clams in the Sea and the Aquarium by James Fatherree. Many of the references he provides, support his position. As I stated earlier in the thread, feeding won't hurt the clam directly. Perhaps I should have added that overfeeding might negatively affect water conditions which would affect the clam directly.

So many controversies in this hobby.:spin: Anyway, I spoke with Clamcrazy, and got some advice from him which included the feeding?. As per Clamcrazy "no need to direct feed". Thank you all for your concern though.
