Shrimp Parasite

Well. I just got back from Pets Warehouse and now I have to go back : / I purchased a cleaner shrimp. And didn't notice until I just about began the acclimation process that the shrimp has what I believe to be a parasite. I beleive there is an isopod attached to the shrimps gill. It looks like a white lump above its legs on the gill : /

From what i read, they won't kill the shrimp, or infect anything else. I got a couple from Will, and they both had this. Hopefully someone else will chime in though.

I heard the same. But I am not taking chances. Pets Warehouse replaced the shrimp for me.

it's just ironic that the other day I was reading about parasitic isopods and then today I unexpectedly came across one that I read about.

I am reviving that thread, as I just got a bunch of Lysmata wurdemanni (peppermint shrimps), and one has a parasitic isopod. I looked online to see if they are "that bad" and found the following on Quality Marine:

- they are not that bad
- they will release eggs, but since these need a rare copepod hosts, they will die
