I just wanted to give Dominick props for his fish adoption service. I got my Hippo Tang years ago when he was smaller than a half dollar. He was one of the first fish I ever got and has been through a lot with me. He?s a really great fish with lots of personality and has always been the life of the tank.
As all Hippos do, he grew up to be a big impressive fish, too impressive for my 120g. He needed more swimming space than I could offer, but I was worried about finding him a new home that would have a nice big tank, love him as much as I do and know how to take proper care of him. That?s when I stumbled upon Diamonds of the Reef?s fish adoption thread.
Long story short, I connected up with Dominick at the swap last weekend and he assured me he?d find my Hippo a good home. He even arranged to have his friend transport the fish from my place in Manhattan to his place in NJ.
After a long morning trying to net a giant fish out of a reef tank (it?s harder than you think) and feeling like a bad fish parent, today my Hippo made the trip to NJ in a 10 gallon Igloo cooler lined with a heavy duty trash bag and arrived safe and sound. Thanks Dominick for helping me and my Hippo. I?m going to miss him, but I at least know he?s in good hands.
