I only had two Mike and they both have beautiful markings like that one. The one pictured was the smaller of the two and that is the exact one beerfish picked up yesterday. I never seen them before Justin ordered them so I can't speak for any others except the two I have. They are very pretty though and I especially like their swallowtail. A much better alternative to Kole Tangs IMO as they are easier to get on prepared foods. Unfortunately the pictures available on the web stink so I think it kept them under the radar.

They are voracious algae eaters. I threw some stringy green macro algae in the tank to show beerfish and they start chowing down immediately.

The one in Lissa's picture looks different than the one in your picture, at least the color of the body does, but that maybe because it's smaller.

As for the being an alternative to the Kole Tangs, the big difference is that they get much larger than Kole Tangs. So someone having a 50gal - 90 gal tank will find that they will out grow the tank pretty fast.
