This was the best Black Friday in my life! By far the best place from all the places I've been too. It's the only place I will probably go to from now on, totally worth the time and distance and get to see great people. Got some amazing fish today, they all acclimated well! I went to Ralph's Black Friday sale once and will never return. It was operated by the "honor system". They gave you a ticket with a number, called out numbers in order and serviced whoever claimed they had that number (they never checked to see if the person actually had the ticket). Result: People (who often had only recently arrived) claimed to have tickets that they did not. Even though the wait times were hours long, mysteriously a number was never missed... although many left due to the long wait line. Black Friday and the Honor System are two things that really don't go together.
Ralph... I would GLADLY pay your regular prices for the selection of 180 boxes of fishes. It seems that it is your highest inventory level of the year. Why not open it up early to loyal customers that want the selection and are perfectly fine with paying your standard prices?

My friend that was not the case yesterday, I'm telling you that as a customer. They were handling multiple customer at the same time. Which was quite incredible. So average wait time was 10-15min at most and it was enough time to choose what you want. If you like immediate attention check them out next week, I'm sure they will take care of you !

I agree. Wait time was minimal. I actually had 2 people getting my order together at the same time.
My only issue is it wasn't like previous Black Friday deals. Mostly regular fish. Nothing rare except for blotchys if you even consider that rare. Previous Black Fridays deals there were Achilles. Chevrons. Goldflake angels. Bandits. A wide selection.

odigo90... I am pleased to hear that you had a good experience.
There is no way the massive crowd I experienced could be handled by his staff in 10-15 minutes. I can only assume that this year's crowd (perhaps due to a new location) was much smaller in size and it will grow in the future.
Bottom line: I don't want the Black Friday sale. I want the Black Friday inventory. The year that I did go Ralph had the best inventory I have ever seen at his store. Why not open it up early to the side of the market that is willing to pay to avoid waiting in lines?

I have seen some excellent customer service and unbeatable prices. I was treated extremely well and it was my first time shopping with them. Joe there is an great guy.

I did not realize that Ralph is the same guy who worked at maximum reef aquatics. Is he?

The crowd could still be there for the 11 am "sale" open to move inventory. I (and I suspect others) would gladly pay regular prices to buy before/avoid the crowd.

No you don't have to wait outside. He's talking about previous Black Friday deals he used to have. Had such nice inventory and prices there were lines outside where you had to get a number and wait till your number was called to get in. It was a hectic mess

A few thoughts:
1. If it works for Queens, great; however, there is another side of the market.
2. I am not aware of anyone waiting outside in the cold. There (to my knowledge) has been enough room in the store for everyone that wanted to wait to wait.

I wasn't bashing a store. Ralph runs a great store. So great I was I could buy his best inventory of the year at non-discounted prices.
