Samsung Galaxy Tab wifi only version

Just got the Samsung Galaxy Tab wifi only version yesterday and I am loving it. Anyone else try it yet? I went with the wifi only version because the phone bill doesn't need another data plan added to it lol. Might root my droid incredible and just tether to it when I am not near a router.

It is great. Pictures and movies are good quality. Angry birds is amazing. The only problem I have is the reefs app keeps crashing, swiftkey is not available ,and there is no calculator app pre installed.

i just wish it would be able to play(MOST) .mkv video files well. A lot of the content i download comes in that format and i am always stuck converting it other than that A+

With T-Mobile it's free tetherinG... so I turn on the hotspot and have my iPad 2, Nook Color, Dell Streak and iPhone 4 all connected to it rangehat

Has anyone had any luck with leaner of easy tether to wireless tether to their phone?

I use pdanet on my iPad2 but if I was using an Android tablet root+wifi-tether is the way to go.

I've seen and played with 3 different honeycomb tablets and while specs are amazing and outshine the iPad2 especially in the camera dept I have to say that that's not the case when it comes to tablet apps and the feel of the OS, honeycomb and the market seems extremely lacking. Now I'm not a fanboy or anything I've played both fields when it comes to smartphones and tablets and as far as smartphones are concerned there are android smartphones out right now that completely kill the iPhone but when it comes to tablets it feels like the iPad has no real competitor.

Root just the phone connect on tablet via wifi no client version needed. Mae sure to secure the hotspot via the phone app.

There is really no way to brick a phone anymore, there's always a way out or to simply flash the stock rom right over and start fresh. Heck check out xda-developers they have one click root programs for most android phones it's painless for the most part.

Android central has some great step by step instructions on how to root but I am still worried about screwing it up. Also with rooting do you have to reinstall all of your apps? More importantly will I lose my angry birds saved games?

Unfortunately Z4Root doesn't support the Incredible, but it can still be rooted with UnRevoked3. I've never used UnRevoked3 so can't comment on the process.

If you're worried about bricking, try EasyTether Lite like you mentioned and see if it works well for you. You have to get the pay version for HTTPS/443 functionality.

my buddy has the incredible he used unrevoked ...do a search on it ....easy one step. ....make sure you back up before you do anything (titanium backup)...just backup apps not apps and data , ..there are also a few other apps you need ,app installer , astro, wireless tether. i'm sure there one more cant think of it right now .

Titanium Backup requires the phone/device to be already "rooted". Catch-22.
