I have a 02 yamaha yzf600r. Not the r6, the thunder cat. I am thinking about getting a d&d exhaust. After watching many youtube videos, I like the sound and price the best on the d&d...so I just put a bid on one on eBay. Now, my question is...is removing the baffle from my stock exhaust going to make the bike stupid loud and 100% unsafe? Many people I know have removed the baffle from their exhausts. Then again, many people say "ohh it's so bad for the bike" and this and that. I even see ALOT of people taking brand new bikes and taking the baffle out of the stock exhaust. So, I'm thinking about just for fun, taking my stock exhaust and removing the baffle. My bike is one of the quietest bikes out their stock. You really cannot hear your self revving it on a highway. I can't hear myself accelerate. If I remove the baffle, is it going to sound as loud as when the bike is started with no exhaust? Just for fun I did that once and it was HORRiBLY loud. I don't want that. I want a nice sound, but not like a zero exhaust sound. Remember, I'll be getting a d&d exhaust soon and most likely be using that, but for fun, is it really that big of a deal removing it and riding with no baffle?
Also, anyone with experience with doing this? I was told just a new hole saw bit that exact size of baffle, some cutting oil, and a long extension. Then after words, lost of brake clean, let it dry out, air gun it real good with a compresser, then a long magnet to make sure no metal shaving are left behind... Is this correct? Or is there a better way?
Thanks guys...
