You'll never get a coke quality drink out of a machine like that but as far as the carbonate not being strong enough I had that problem too fixed it by using the vintage brand of seltzer as a water source. The stuff is really strongly carbonated so it does help but again it's not going to be as good as a can of soda because the concentrate isn't as well made as the stuff you buy bottled but it sure as heck packs a punch if you use seltzer as a water source.

I've bought 4. They are so worth the money if you drink seltzer. The sodas/flavorings are okay at best. I do like the 'Pete's' it's kinda like Dr. Pepper.

Some hints:
Used COLD filtered water. Fill up all your bottles from the Britta and put them in the fridge to get really cold. It will make carbonating the water easier. Temperature and pressure are directly related.

You don't have to stop at 3 'burps' on the machine. If you want it fizzier, keep pressing the button. There's no rule saying you can't go back and re-fizz as needed, either.

For the sodas, carbonate the water, add the flavor, shake gently, and let it sit for a few minutes. Refizz if you need it. (be sure to hit the button once or twice after you take out the soda bottle to get all the liquid out of the tube.)

Space, Bed, Bath, and Beyond now carry the refills in some sizes. You can also get them swapped here in NYC. Call sodastream and they'll set it up.

Yeah it will Russ, But you don't get the cool old nozzle. It will probably take you a few tries to get the carbonation level where you like it. But hey, it's more egg creams to drink, right?

Ive had mine for almost 9 years. The company used to be called Soda Club, and I have one of those earlier models. This machine frikkin rocks! I'm a club soda drinker, and I use it all the time. I have tried the syrups that they sell-- but they taste like poison to me.

The bottles are only 1 liter, so if you expect to be making large amounts of soda, you will need a few extra bottles. Here's why the machine is so great, you get cold water from the fridge, fill up the soda bottle and carbonate it. You can actually see ice crystals form and float around the bottle. Ice-cold bubbly soda in a few seconds.

Thanks for all the info. I picked one up and love it. I'm using it to cut down on soda and the amount of chemicals I drink from all the cokes I drink. I just use some lemon or lime. William sonoma has "natural" soda mix with is more expensive but not pack with chemicals.

Plus I just found another great use for my RO!

Williams Sonoma has the co2 and will give a 15% discount for the exchange, not sure how that compares to bed, bath &beyond.
