my 12 year old female German Shepard CJ was diagnosed with cancer of the spleen and has a growth on it the size of a softball.
Vet doesn't recommend surgery he gave her a cordizone shot to reduce the inflammation. my little guy is taking it hard not sure if she is going to make the nite.
to make matters worse my son and I are leaving for Niagara tomorrow for a weekend hockey tournament

Sorry to hear that, my family recently lost our cat who was part of the family for 17 years, it hurts losing a loved one no matter what the species and I understand the pain you and your family are experiencing.

she made it through the nite my son and I slept with her on the floor she didnt move all nite. she seems to be doing much better today. we have to leave in a few for Niagara hopefully she will be ok till we get back

I can only say that my heart goes out to you. Sehperds are just the best and deserve all we can give them.

We put our Ruby down last December. She developed a tumor in her other ear. Two surgeries in less than six months were too much for her and she suffered a stroke after the second and couldn't walk at all. Taking her to the vet that day was one of the toughest ordeals of my life and I don't mind saying I cried like a baby. She was our faithful guardian, a mother's protective heart in a body like a locomotive. Two pictures will always stay in my mind: Michael as a little boy whacking baseballs down the street while Ruby stood watch, and Caroline in the garden with Ruby dutifully seated just outside the gate.

in Niagara, just spoke to my wife Cj seems to be doing Ok she's getting back to her old self I guess the shot the Vet gave her kicked her butt for a bit last night.
it really is tough coming to grips that her time is winding down, she has been a great dog and a great family member. my son Sal is coming home from college for spring break next week hopefully she will sill be around for him
