Rome to Florence 1:45ish

Florence to Venice: 1:30ish

Never left Italy.

I will verify with the wife... but those should be pretty close. Definately no more then two hours for each leg.

Make sure you reserve the seats ahead of time, get first class, and DON'T let your luggage out of site.

Rich.

I backpacked around Europe for a year in '97 and took Eurail everywhere it is by far the best way to go.
Venice to Vienna - I think you have to go back to Verona (which is a great city by the way) then up the Brenner pass. I went from Verona to Vienna and it was an overnight train - I think i got on around 11 or 12 and arrived in Vienna early the next morning. I never travelled first class, and always travelled by myself. i might have just been very lucky but nothing bad happened to me and I met lots of really nice people. Then again after a year on the road i probably didnt look like i was worth robbing.

Hey Rich, is it really not that safe? Or there's just alot theif there stealing people luggage? Hmm then should i just bring a backpack? But then if I am going for 2 weeks, then I do need a 28inch luggage, does it fit in the Eurorail?
