For the last 20 years I have commuted around manhattan pretty much exclusively by bicycle. I recently realized that I am gettign too old to show up at work all sweaty and nasty, so I just got my motorcycle permit, and am about to buy a scooter to commute to work on.
On the theory that whatever I get is going to be parked on the street (and almost certainly dropped a couple times) i was looking at some used scooters. Thing is, I dont know squat about scooters.
So if anyone here is knowledgeable about them, and would be willing to give me some pointers on buying a used bike it would be greatly appreciated.
Right now it looks like I am going to get a 2008 Kymco People 150 for about $1200. I guess I am looking for any feedback on that, any tips on registering a scooter in NYC (the seller is in NJ, bike was licensed/titled there) and basically anything else that I am too ignorant to even know to ask.
Finally...I am picking it up in Wayne, NJ. If anybody is from that area and would be willing to come check it out with me before i pay for it and stick in it a uhaul it would be super cool.
