Unlocking Iphone 4

I been waiting for the unlock for the Iphone 4 but getting stuck somewhere.

I version that it is on now is:

Version: 4.1
Baseband (modem firmware) 2.10.04

I been doing alot of research and got nothing back on this baseband that can be unlocked.

I am aware that there was just a new version (4.2.1) that came out a couple days ago and which can be unlocked. But is this for the people that upgraded the version only and kept the old baseband?

Also, anyone upgrade to the new version 4.2.1 yet?

If so what baseband are you running on? It should say it next to modem firmware.

Will, they're still working on the unlock for 02.10.04 on the 4. Follow musclenerd on twitter. He's getting close. 4.2.1 is ONLY unlockable for 3G and 3GS. Hope this helps

whats the advantage in unlocking the phone?

For me it's being able to use it with my company plan (T-mobile) as well as when I travel abroad.

I got tired of waiting for the unlock so I decided to switch to at&t now I can use my iphone as a phone not an expensive ipod! Will if u update to 4.2.1 the baseband will be 03.10.01 and so far there's no unlock for both 2.10.04 and 03.10.01

I'm stuck using the 3g right now when I have the iphone 4 sitting right in front of my!!

Only drawback of unlocking - If you use T-Mobile... you can't use 3G Data service. *As far as I remember, correct me if I'm wrong.
