I have the wireless router in the basement, and My PS3 is on my second floor.. Signal is very weak on second floor. What do I need for the PS3 to pick up the signal stronger? I did the scan and I only have 23% signal and not allow me to do an update on my system. Should I get a new router or should I get a wireless range adapter? I have DSL from verizon at home.. Anyone?

Thanks

Move the router near the PS3. Or you can buy another access point and use it as a repeater. If you're going to play online, you NEED the ps3 wired or the latency will cause major playing issues.

Well, there's no way I can move the router near my PS3, the router have to be in basement.. So I'll need an access point.. Which one would u recommend? then the access point is going be in the basement too?? next to my router?

the access point can act as a repeater, but it needs to be wired. Is the W-Router 802.11n?

You could look up Ethernet over Power solutions, but thats a bit much. I would either drill some holes in the floor or snake some cat5 through the walls and install drops in your gaming room. Otherwise, you're stuck with a lack luster connection.

I don't think mine is a N. Cuz I got router from verizon more than 3 years ago... So then if the access point is in the basement, will it still work for me on 2nd floor?

THanks

add a wireless bridge if you're using DDWRT or tomato. that's what i did when my router was in the basement and the xbox on the 2nd floor.

For online gaming, you are going to want the reliability of a wired connection. Do you know how to do any wiring? You need to run Cat5E or Cat6 cable from where the router is to the room with the PS3. It really is as simple as that.
