Anyone else live on the Marathon route? I live at the exact 5K mark of the Blue/Green Route (the first checkpoint). Pretty fun to watch the runners go by from my couch with coffee in hand. :splitspin:splitspin

I'm down the block from the 59th street bridge. The runners, the top ones, come off the bridge so fast, and make there way up 1st ave, it's like a blur. Within minutes they've gone up 1st ave and you can't see them anymore.
Family and I know from years past that the best thing to do is get as far away as possible for the weekend. They close the bridge from 7:30 till 3:30 basically holding us captives for most of the day here on Staten Island. The traffic it causes is even worse! This marathon thing is getting old.:lol2:

I used to live in Brooklyn about a half block off the route. Unfortunately everything was on the other side of 4th Ave, so if I needed to go anywhere, I had to cross. I would start at one end at a jog and run about a block with the runners while getting slowly across to the other side!

Lol, that's pretty funny. I ended up walking a few blocks to the subway so that I could get to the stairs on the other side. I thought about pretending to run, but I was quite obviously not a runner in my dress pants and fancy shoes :shhh:
