All of Europe is about the size of Texas. Very tiny place. When going to Europe I always recommend getting a Eurorail pass. This basically enables you to jump on any trin any time you want going anywhere you like.

Italy is so tiny you can actually do all four locations within a few hours. I would definitely not make a set time table but go with the flow. Switzerland is very close by. Lake Geneva Area is one of the most beautiful places to visit.

After jump on the TGV (high speed train) to Paris and spend some time there. Its a lot of fun on the trains and you will meet a lot of good people doing the same.

Venice - Florence 1hour 45 minutes
Florence - Rome about the same...

This all depends on what train you select. Make sure you get the High Speed Eurorail.

While in florence, take a day trip to Sienna... great little city! and its about an hour on the slow trains. Also in Florence is a place called the Yellow Bar... Great food!

Do you know where in each city you are staying? I only know Rome, Florence and Venice. ( we did Ven. flor then Rome for 14 days for our honeymoon). Fortinately the wifes family is from Italy and they showed us around Rome and the outskirts.. otherwise the 7 days in Rome would have drive me insane.

Walk while in Rome... they are INSANE! We watch two scooters smash into one another in an intersection and the guy that was wrong was about to beat the crap out of the girl he hit.. hehe... luckly there were lots of people to stop him.

If you plan to see the Vatacin (sp?) expect it to take most of one day.

Venice was amazing, just don't eat or drink on the main square. You'll pay quadruple than if you walk down an alley and get the same thing. I had the most expensive glass of beer i'll ever have on the square in Venice.

When in Italy, eat lot's and lot's of pizza!! There the best!! I could not get enough while I was there. :)

Places to eat in Italy??

Just about every street has a restaurant you can stuff your face with. Italy is the only country I can really enjoy without having to break out my English to their language translator.

Check out the "Regional Passes" for Italy

Get your self a pass for 7 days of travel in "X" amount of months. This works by allowing you to travel for so many days ina a given amount of time (months). In one day ( I dont htink they use a 24 hour day... I think its like 20 hours) you can travel as many times as you like and it only counts as one day. Its not by the trip. Bsically, my wife and I did Venice to Florence in the AM, arrived in florence, then checkinto new hotel, got on train and went to another city to look around... all basically one trip. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR LUGGAGE CLOSE!!! and in sight!

As far as food goes... do you speak Italian? or anyone with you? Fortionately its my wifes first language, and its helped alot... was a life saver when I almost got arrested in florence. anyway, try and find the "local" places.

In Florence find "The Yellow Bar" that was by far the best food on the entire trip. (steak)

In Venice.. (hopefully the water will be low), the food along the canal is expensive and usually smaller portions. You gotta try the Gellato (sp?) their ice cream... Fruito de bosco (sp?) (fruit of the woods... mmmm good stuff).

Rome, Rome had a ton of good places... Most were off the beaten trail. Fresh buffalo mozz and prosuitto (sp?).... ohhh!

Don't expect large portions anywhere. Breakfast is usually breads jams and maybe some fruit. Some of the hotels have eggs... but only a few.

I will get some more info for ya... when Iget home tonight.
