Jacking the thread O YEAH I went to the swap AND

I am happy to say the prices were NOT insane and there was plenty of a selection for the 10-30 dollar frag people. And no it was xenia, kenia tree, brown button polyps and so on.

I think MOST of the MR vendors were moderately to fair priced at this swap and yes there was still some insanely priced things but lets be honest those pieces were INSANE

for those that couldnt make it, you missed out for those that thought is wasnt worth it glad you didnt go, for those that thought price and ect wasn't worth it, GOT FRAGS brought almost a 1000 corals none over $25, from basic zoa's to watermelon chalice's to sps, yellow eye'd goni's and so on. can't comment on the other vendors as i didn't really need to go anywhere else, { worked the booth } and had first dibs on his stuff ;)

For those of you who wanted to make it but could not, my regrets... I hope you can join us next time. No need for any of us to rub it in. For Jaa, I offer this,

http://changingminds.org/explanations/behaviors/coping/rationalization.htm

or this for a little more technical description

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationalism

My students do this all the time. When they are punished by not being allowed to go to a dance/field trip etc...that they were excited about they make sure the entire class knows how "wack" it is and that they didn't want to go anyway. Very standard psych 101. It is good to recognize when this happens and why. I guess I am just a dork but I find it fascinating. Your logic that because you live in NJ, the NJ swap makes more sense to you is great logic... FOR YOU only. It does not apply at all for those who live in Bk, Qns, Manhattan or the BX, or long island, or westchester... etc etc. I would love to have gone to Macna this year but I don't live in Orlando and had a wedding that weekend.... would I have liked to go... sure. Would it have better than they wedding... maybe, but I can't say because I WAS NOT at Macna... understand my point?

The "with the money I saved by not going to the swap I bought an MP10" argument is flawed man. I could skip my morning coffee and bagel and buy a new mp60 when it comes out too. But I like my coffee and bagel in the morning and I like the awesomeness that is the MR swap. Wouldn't even trade an mp10 for only 1 swap a year but that is just me. The value of the swap is not quantifiable. You don't have to justify to us how much fun you had at home and how beneficial it was for your powerhead procurement by not going to the swap. It kind of came off childish.

Ok, I just wasted 10 mins of my life.

James, after reading this well put break down, I woud love to give you a high five for your awesome logic! The swap was awesome! However, this would mean I'd have to drive to your house, which means I'd lose my parking spot. I would also burn 5 gallons of gas as my FJ gets only 14mpg in the city. Moreover, after consuming a sketchy roast beef wrap in the hospital cafe earlier this evening, I have a scorching case of the green apple splatters so the death of a pair of underwear would be certain....potentially soiling of my car seat too...so this hi five venture would cost me about $150.00...nope...not gonna do it...
