I know this is a stupid topic for a man to post but my wife has not been feeling great lately so I have been helping with this fall cleaning.
Big mistake. When my wife cleans, it would be easier to just move.
We remove everything from every drawer in the house, clothes, food, pantry, closets, cubbards, everything and clean out the thing.
We have been living here for 31 years and it is a big house with a finished basement and bedrooms up and down stairs. I have a lot of hobbies so you know what that entails. The fall cleaning almost takes us up to when we have to do the spring cleaning when we do it all over again.
She turns the drawers up side down and oils them with some wood oil. Thats the bedroom furnature. She also has to clean the tracks and replace the drawer liners. Then we move the dresser away from the wall to clean behind and under it. The thing must weigh 500lbs.
All the closets are emptied of everything so we could put away winter clothes and put out summer clothes.
I myself just have "clothes" if it's cold I put more of them on.
We, or I paint the closets but thankfully not every year.
The house is modern so most of the lighting is track lights which all have to come down to get cleaned.
I powerwash the eaves outside, thank God the house is stone or I would be painting that every year.
If I ever sell this house the new owner will be getting a pristine house that is just as clean as the day it was built.
But it still is a stupid way to spend all this time.
