Good work. Post pics when color start to show. I don't really want to ask in public about how much you paid. But would like to know, thinking about getting back in the hobby.
I needed the challenge AF( After Reef,)lol... I'm over the first hurdle feeding and getting it to drink water the first day.. Now I just have to keep the home as clean and stable as possible without over doing it(hands in the tank) causing one of the usual reasons for decline from stress.. These animals are known for URI's like ich in a unstable system,,lol..
Hey Tobin...
Good to see you paid attention to my advice:lol:
Definitely off to a good start.
You didn't get the Dubia's, you got the Lateralis due to the size.
They won't take to them at first as they like the movement from crix, but they will definitely eat them. If you constantly feed him crix he'll get used to that. It's ok to starve them a little so they can accept other foods.
I weened mine to totally accept Dubia's but still feed crix to keep his hunting skills sharp
I gutload my feeders with the cat food I told you about & also Wheat & Oat Bran, along with veggies for moisture.
I use my RK to monitor the lights & temp & a reef doser as my dripper.
Thanks for the info. He ate 4 lateralis yesterday and 5 crickets.. Today it only ate 1 cricket so I let 5 dusted crix go in the enclosure and left him alone..
What should the humidity be kept at??
That light is 110 at the outside top of the enclosure and 79 in the middle inside of the enclosure.. Ordering a digital humidity and temp probe for $12 from hardwarecity.com they also have some nice sprinkler system controllers for $25 that I can hook up a mist nozzle to..
First shedding with me.. Before, during and after pic of Scratchy shedding..
He still has a piece or 2 of the dead skin the next day in the last shot..
My suggestion is to invest in an auto misting system. Panther chameleons are very sensitive and out of no where they can stress and stop eating. I had mine for a year and a half and he stopped eating out of no where. No matter what I did I couldn't get him to start eating again and he starved himself to death. It was really sad and hard because I was doing everything right. I wish you the best of luck with the little guy and please update pics because his colors are going to get crazy bright as he grows.
Thanks guys, I will be investing in a misting system but not until 2 weeks from now.. My humidity levels are pretty good with the lights out, when they come on the humidity drops to between 40 and 50..
sweet post bob, i used to breed beardeds and uromastix.. i had a bunch of sunburst dragons and nigerian uros... awsome creatures all had their own personalities like dogs...
