Printer problems

So my mom recently bought an HP printer and we've been having problems getting it to print.

It's properly installed and all. If i scan a document from the computer, it scans fine. But when I try to print something from the computer, nothing happens.

Anyone know why this might be?

Tried contacting HP and those folks we no help, kept uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

Computer is a Gateway and the printer is an HP F4480.

There's usually a test calibration where it prints these random colors, then you set that printed paper on the scanner bed where it scans to see how it printed and calibrates itself.

I did the calibration when I first set up the printer. It's gotten really frustrating:lol2: to work with this printer.

Could it be that something is wrong with the computer?

Can you perform a printer test page? This will determine if communication between your PC and printer is taking place.

I've tried printing the test page to no avail. I know there's communication btwn the printer and computer, due to it being able to scan when commanded from the computer

I would uninstall the program and drivers. If you installed through the CD, look for the latest drivers only on their website. If you did through their website, use the CD they gave to install drivers only and no other programs. The additional program that it usually comes with usually can monitor how much ink is left and maybe some other little features, but isn't really necessary to print or scan.
Also, if you have windows 7, make sure its windows 7 compatible.

i'm betting its the print driver issue. try a hp clean uninstall utility then re-install most updated driver. hp drivers r usually sucky due to all the crap they try to squeeze into their software.

can you "see" a usb drive or an mp3 player or a camera on the same usb port your trying to print from?
