My first day out Striper Fishing

Alot of people catching those lately they most be running from the oil spill.

Big one was a 48" at 40 lbs and the others were 37", 39" and 36". Dre Stripers dont come from the Gulf, They are mostly up and down the North East Coast. They are a migratory fish. I got a hot spot I hit in Long Island right on the sound, Thanks to a tip from a friend. Can't wait to see what next weekend brings in the boat =)

Actually sorry Dre i just checked and this is what i found..... Striped bass are native to the Atlantic coastline of North America from the St. Lawrence River into the Gulf of Mexico to approximately Louisiana. They are anadromous fish that migrate between fresh and salt water. Spawning takes place in fresh water.

Oh,a friend of mine hit a hot spot with them about a month ago as well, they were the same sizes as yours.Nice pics man.

We had one of them @ my house for dinner tonight.

That was absolutely the best fish I have ever eaten.

I definitely need to come out with you next time you go dude..

That is their original range, but I've never heard of stripers in the gulf...or even in southern Fla on the Atlantic side. The Montreal aquarium has stripers in their native St. Lawrence exhibit...but they look suspiciously like the farmed hybrid stripers sold in fish markets. Larger, but not as large as real striped bass. I do not believe that stripers are currently found north of Maine.

Show me the hot spot! Haha I have only gotten 1 35" bass this year but only put my boat in the water last week. I want to get away from these damn bluefish!

Yea the bluefish kill everything... We hooked 4 fish in a matter of an hour and they were all Stripers. First one in the boat was the 48" :smile:

I can't wait till Sat morning, I'm heading back out to the spot and going to see what else I can get in the boat. Hopefully I pull in some nice ones. I'll keep it updated.
