Ok i'm alittle pissed off here. Someone just dropped off 8 bags of garbage in front of my house. Inside were hats, boxes, and a suit case. Now if I didnt just take the garbage out now, i would've probably not noticed until the morning after i get a ticket from sanitation. What would've have happened if i got that ticket? Anyway for someone to protect themselves? Just thought maybe someone knew or had this happen to them. I checked the bags and didnt find anything with a address(which is lucky for them!). :irked:

Why would you have gotten a ticket?? (sorry, I live in the 'burbs now..lol)

The city folks get a sanitation ticket for almost anything. My wife's father got a ticket a couple of times when there was a small pile of leaves on his front steps. He just got one recently cause on a windy day someones else empty boxes blew onto his property. Sanitation is pretty strict in the bx, i am guessing its the same down in queens. Best bet alex, get a night vision camera and find out who it is. Not sure how much the ticket is in queens but my father in law ended up paying $150 for each time :irked:

At my aunts place, we had these nomads with shopping carts looking for cans and they managed to take our recycling bags leaving the unwanted cans all over our front....We got a ticket and we paid for it...but it was such an unreasonable ticket...

At other times at Homedepot, I see people with pick-up trucks dropping off garbage in the parking lot. They are fast.....So irresponsible people.

Theres nothing you can do about it, and you might not even get the people in trouble with the camera. Cops won't go looking around for them and most times the vid camera won't get a clear enough shot of their face.

So yeah, check before the garbage gets picked up and make sure nothing there can get you in trouble.

We have 2 properties in an industrial area in greenpoint and we always get garbage dumped there, even with the cameras and motion detecting lights. And the cops have yet to go after the people that did it even though we had their faces on camera and knew where they were.

But that didn't stop us from returning that garbage to the rightful owner =0)

+1 All the dude has to do is wear a baseball hat and they are invisible.

I got a ticket cause some ass opened my trash and dumped a bottle in. Then many others started tossing glass bottles in as they walked by. BOOM $65 fine.

NYC should take this as a hint that the laws are WAY too strict. Otherwise this wouldn't be happening.

I have had this done to us as well! Last time was someone dropped off the seat to a van on our sidewalk. I called 311, and reported the incident. Sanitation came, picked it up, and I didn't get a ticket.;)

Guys/gals, when ever you have some idiot drop their garbage off on your property, or in front of your place you must call 311, and report it immediately. You will get a case number which you can use to fight any ticket you get.

So far I have not received a ticket so have not had to use the case number, but it is a good idea to write it down as proof of your complaint.:)

They give tickets for everything. One I got was for having paper in my boxes...another simply because they didn't like the way the boxes were put out...I couldn't tell exactly because it was so poorly written. But the one that annoyed me the most was for a soda bottle in the trash...I know that someone just tossed it in while walking down the street..(probably not maliciously, just unthinking). Reminds me of that episode on Curb Your Enthusiasm when Larry gets in trouble for putting garbage in some guys can...In each case I paid the fine. It's not worth the hassle trying to fight it over $25.

That's how they get you though, pretty much no one fights these tickets. Shouldn't it be innocent until proven guilty and last time my parents got one they didn't attach a picture or anything. But of course they just went ahead and paid it, even though I told them to fight it.
