my girlfriends parents have a few year old rear projection 52 or so inch tv. the past year the colors randomly fade in and out. while watching tv all of a sudden the tv colors turn purple, green, red, ect. it usually happens faster on the lower channels (2,3,4,5...) not a 24/7 accurance but after watching a channel about 10-15 minutes it will fade. you change the channel and then back and its fine again. they shipped the tv out around 4 times and never fix it. we though it was the cable but only that tv does it, not the rest of the tvs in the house. whats going on?

Your tv

Hello there, Its not the lamp because the lamps are vacuum tight. You said its not the cable you switched them out. Does this happen when watching a DVD or anything else? Have you tried switching inputs on the back of the tv and the cable box? HAve you tried a different cable box & cables with this tv to see the results?

Just some ideas.

ryan its the cable i dont care what my dad says. if its only happening at that house its not the tv. and all hes doing is changing the cable box. what he needs to do is try it on the basement line. or stop complaining and buy a lcd. not to mention it dosent happen while watching a bluray disc
