1995 Chevrolet Blazer 4WD Help!

Any gear heads out there that know the 4WD system on this vehicle?

Ok, here it goes. Vacuum Actuator - Good! - Transfer Case Switch - New! Vacuum Hoses Good! 3 Button Dash Switch New!

Locks into 4LO, no problem. Locks into 2 HI no problem. However it will no go into 4HI at all. Then all the Lights on the selector go out.

I reset the TCCM (Transfer Control Module) and all seems well for a while. Then if I switch between gears here and there, the lights go out and I lose 4HI again.

Any ideas? Is the TCCM going? Encoder Motor?

Well, I just reset the TCCM, going to go for a spin and see if I can get it to fail, I want to see what I am doing to make do odd things. For some reason I get the feeling it is the TCCM. Which means ripping out the dashboard! Yikes.

Ok, all the indicator lights are working. Took it out for a spin, but still am not sure that the Transfer Case is locking up. Because the indicator light goes off the front actuated differential. Hard to tell, but I did have way more control.

ive dealt with that before but forget the exact cause, it is a module but do believe it is on the transfer case. in all honesty, id go to a dealership if nothing else to let them diag it, reg shops arent going to be able to pull the info a dealership can

My gf has a blazer and what a pos!!! I hate these trucks! Nothing but problems especially electrical... Hers is a 2000.. I owned a 1995 1500 pickup as well with multiple problems.. Get rid of it and start over! I know times r tough but these cars are money pits! Sorry to hear about ur problems.. Chevy Sux!

If its a recent problem it could be ice... Make sure the lever that switches the transmission into the 4wd mode is not iced up.. Maybe park it in a garage or warm area for a while and let it defrost... Im not an expert but am mechanically inclined,I have had simular problems...

its possible that the transfer case motor is going bad. replace if you have probs getting into different modes.

is the transfer case i did so many of these trunk . most of the gm thats 4.0 or bigger have this problems

btw your best bet is to take it to a tranny rebuild place

Got it to lock up! Replaced the vacuum switch again on the transfer case, cleared the codes from the TCCM. Boom 4 X 4.

did you ever have a problem with the fuel pump (i think), preventing you from accelerating quickly? or the gas gauge being way off (sometimes it would say full tank when it's really on empty...)?

Not in this vehicle, but I also had a '91 and the sender/pump went on it. At first I thought it was the transmission slipping until one day I found myself stuck on the side of the road in the Poconos with a full tank of gas.

Unfortunately, that is not a cheap repair, but if you have a place to do it, it is an easy repair.

Fuel Pump

The fuel pump for that car runs about $400 beans w/o installation. It is located inside the gas tank. You have to remove the tank to replace.
