Dog Adoption

various reasons! people use them as status, protection or just breed them and dont want them!
Then you have housing that wont allow them and make owners surrender them. Fighting, drug dealers, Thugs all that stuff also plays a role.

Many people breed them and then just dont want them or if they get sick abandon them.


It is horrible!

That dog i rescued was a few hours away from being euthanized and is the most loving dog I ever meet and now living happily with a family! Its a horrible problem and the first step is spay/neuter every single animal and not purchasing dogs

No worries Awi on "hijacking thread" I'm learning A LOT on different breeds. I mostly knew about goldens...

But anyway I found another dog I want to adopt, and he's virtually perfect and am going to call the shelter to find out what is his story. He's a Corgi and German Shepard Mix.

So I am expecting a seriously smart and potentially obedient dog that likes to move. I'm a little worried about hip dysplasia and I have obtained pricing on Pet Insurance my company provides. Anyway I'll shut up... onto pics lol. He's FREAKIN ADORABLE.

aznt, some of these rescue group transport the dogs as well. Ask if they can bring the dog closer to NYC. I know PB-smile.com has volunteers all over the place that transport the dogs. Sometimes it takes a few volunteers to get the job done but it gets done.

Do ask, all they can say is no.

I don't suggest laying out any money until you have the dog. Ton's of scammers out there.

Saving a dog is the best thing you can do.I got a Lab mix from North Shore and the first thing they do is spay them before you can adopt. Another place you might try if the one in Arkansas (another puppy mill state} doesn't work out is Little Shelter in Huntington. Its a bit of a ride but a great place. The petfinder site is a good place to start if you're more into a specific breed.

I adopted my dog before last from North Shore..... She was a lab/golden retriever/collie/german shepherd mix. She was the most gentle sweet natured dog in the world. She lived 14 years after we got her- I was in 5th goin on 6th grade she was with us all the way through my high school then I left for the Army and she was with us for a few years after I got out of the military in 99. Had to put her down in 2002. Was a great dog and have had friends adopt from their as well, all with positive experiences.

We rescued a dog from alabama or arkansas i cant remember but it was transported here and we met them in a MCD's parking lot at 6AM.

We were so happy with the out come we adopted the one another.
One is boxer jack russel other is pointer jack russel.

Paws and Claws was the place.
