Don, The issue am having with this mac is with RAM. The mac before this was also having a upload problem. TW told me the problem is in the outside box, but they say that they cant get into the house where the pole is.
Ill look into Mozilla Firefox.

I'm also having slow download speeds. Called TW last night, they ran a line diagnostic. 'Lots of reflected signal' whatever that means. Anycase a 'tech' is coming out on Thursday.
My feeling is TW stinks. I don't get the advertised 5 Mbps download, rarely even get 2mpbs. Right now I'm at less than my 386kbps upload!
Looking into alternatives....
Good luck

Download Speed: 4421 kbps (552.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 349 kbps (43.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

I like my TW line. This is the slowest this month. Usual is 5500 or better. It all depends on your backbone in your area. I never get over 350 up though. It is limited.

wow herman what kind of connection do you have? T1?
nope, cablevision. Its blazing over here. I do live a couple of yards from the node and this area primarily has old white people living without net connection so I get to hog it. Also see what paying your cable guy under the table can do for you.

I have also found that using different OS's will yield different results. My linux box downloads things almost twice as fast as my win xp box. Linux is the bomb!!!

Also the linux box is hard wired. Wired vs wireless makes a huge difference. If I sit on my laptop in the yard it is considerably slower.
