Well, I know some of you guys are mac users, and I am somewhat of an occasional user, until I picked up a G4 Power Mac today. The thing is, the guy who I got it from, had put a 8.7gb hard drive on a scsi card, and a 5gb drive on the eide. He loaded OSX 10.4/tiger for me, but used the 5gb as the startup disc.
Now, I get it home, do my first updates, and the drive is full "delete some files". No sh#t!
As a windows user, I certainly know I have to get a much bigger drive, I have 240gigs on my main machine. I'm going to put in a 40 - 80gb dive, and eliminate both old drives and the scsi card, but I need to ask this: Can I transfer the complete install from the 5gb to the new disc and make it the startup disk? In other words, clone it? I know this can be done easily in windows, but I don't know anything about this in the mac environment. I don't have the 10.4 install disk to format the new drive, but I do have a set of 10.3 disks.
Also, anyone have any spare hard drives they want to sell? (don't have to be mac, just IDE drives). I would like to do this tomorrow if I can.
If I can get help on any or all of this, I would greatly appreciate it
