Check this out. I go to visit my inlaws last year in Miami..we go to a nearby shopping mall, and I couldnt believe what happened next. We park and a van pulls up to clean our car for using their mall to shop as a courtesy...... FREE OF CHARGE!...when we came out from shopping, the car was clean... i didnt grow up here and have only been here for 6 yr's and cant wait to leave, i cant afford to buy a house here myself and refuse to give up that much in taxes a yr, ive owned a home in ohio and in indiana, neither place was my property taxes over a grand, once daughter is 18 i am outta here

i have no idea where all the money goes from taxes and insurances. its definitely not all to infrastructure. Same thing with Jersey. These taxes are rediculous and i dont see a dime of it.

Don't get me wrong, i've live in ny all my life....born in brooklyn!!! And it has been great but when you have a family it does get hard to stay when you can get more elsewhere. I'm here because i have to be.... But when i can leave i'M gone! The key is to try and leave ny with some kinda pension and go to these other states with a cushion& AND JUST LIVE BETTER.

I agree with you about ny being expensive but you do make more money here than most other places .
My thing is getting out of the city and into long island
NYC LI
property taxes for small house 4500 $8-10000 for a bigger house
water bill 3months $300 from what I here $30
Auto insurance 2cars 3 motorcycles >$2000 <half of that
public schools look like jail houses look like private schools
fines for every little thing like if someone
walks by your house and puts garbage in the wrong container
but not for noise all times of night or littering only to home owners
nyc residents also pay nyc taxes out of their pay checks every week

just a little reply on kmaking more money here than other places, its a LIE.
yes your initial income is more but when you put into consideration property taxes, just the overal cost of living here and how many hours you have to work just to get by... how much more are you really making here... i have lived in other states and then the time comes i'm outta here.

The one thing we can all do is VOTE I know everyone has something better to do and everyone thinks their vote wont make a difference but it will get your lazy asses up and vote today was my first time voting for mayoral elections it took less than 5 minutes i live in a very congested area and the place was empty that probably means nobody is going out to vote but I guarantee you all my neighbors will be complaining that Bloomy won a third term and only takes care of Manhattan raises our taxes never cleans snow of our streets till Manhattan is spotless and there are thousands of car accidents , water bills and property taxes doubled since he became mayor etc...
If you ask why it's my first time voting I recently became a naturalized citizen
