So rare for me to actually go away to a 'place'. Usually I spend my time with friends, my boat, my tanks or tethered to a computer device of some sort.

I was on vacation last week and needed to go upstate for something and decided to tack on an extra day and make a trip to Niagara Falls. I'd been there about 10 years ago for a function and wanted to see the Falls again..so off we went.. 1100 miles later (a few side trips) , I'm back and wanted to share a few shots of the Falls area...

A few shots of the Rainbow Bridge that takes you over to Canada. We couldn't go as we didn't bring Passports with us (you need them now...), too bad as the Canadian side has a ton of stuff to do over there..waterpark, more restaurants..etc and definitely a way better view of the Falls! We do plan to go back in a couple of months and will do the Canada/tourist visit then.

I don't usually get too creative with pics, but I especially like the way this one came out :spin:

Originally the bridge here was called 'Honeymoon Bridge' but it collapsed in 1938 and the Rainbow Bridge was then built (...I read just about every informational sign up there..lol).

Check out how clean the water is!
This pic shows where part of the original Niagara power plant collapsed (it was due to the type of rock it was built on and the erosion process), you can see some of the rock still in the water. No matter, it isn't like there are boats coming from north of the area ..lol, so they just left it in the river (along with most of the Honeymoon Bridge)

Then there was the Falls themselves..

..and at night...

I have more pics, but think these give you a feel for the area. So if you can't swing that trip to Hawaii or to another exotic island or don't want to go too far (while your reef-inexperienced son is taking care of your tank), I'd suggest looking in your own backyard for a fun place to go. It certainly is a nice place for a weekend visit. :)

Thanks for looking!
