I got back about $14,000.00 from LIPA.
The panels are $850.00 each, I have 22 of them and the inverter is probably about $400.00 then there are the maunting brackets.
It will cost you about $23,000.00 in materials.
It took me 4 days to install it myself

Did you also get your $6,900 in Federal Tax Credits and the other $5,000 in State Tax Credits?

No I got $5,000.00 I think total or a little more from a tax credit. But I did get about $14,000.00 from LIPPA in just under 90 days which worked out great because I had to take the money out of my annunity and if you get it back with in 90 days, you don't have to pay income tax on it.

Oh I guess you got it before the federal bailouts, they removed the caps in the bailout.

But that's still pretty crazy though, in total it really only cost you $4,000. Payback period is within 5 years, assuming net present values, and interest costs, etc.

Here is my actual power consumption which I just got from the power company.
The top paragraph from 10/16/09 to today is when the panels were installed and working. Before that I did not have solar electric. Compare my usage from this year with the panels to last year without panels.
After the word "actual" is my wattage used from the power company.

I have been selling these systems and that is about what the labor costs are. Where you live, you could do it yourself and save that money.

Great job by the way, honestly this thread is the best explanation on solar panels I have seen. Most of the time you get a lot of mumbo jumbo.

I sell them and get someone to install them. Now I am past the point when I want to climb around on someone's roof to install these things. I did mine in 4 days by myself but I don't really need it anymore if you know what I mean. I am 60 now and although in great shape, financially, I am not starving yet so I will let other guys install these from now on.
