Morla it is. These are my first cold blooded pets that I've ever named. I'm going to start a habit. Now taking names for the other critters. We'll start with the python and chameleon above. The winner gets the distinction of having semi-celebrity status and the joy of having given a name to a star that has lived its whole life in anonymity.

wow I just read the oldest ball python on record lived to be 48 years old!

another interesting ball python fact from wikipedia,
"This species is particularly revered in the traditional religion of the Igbo people of southeastern Nigeria. It is considered symbolic of the earth, being an animal that travels so close to the ground. Even among many Christian Igbos, these pythons are treated with great care whenever they happen to wander into a village or onto someone's property; they are allowed to roam freely or are very gently picked up and placed out in a forest or field away from any homes. If one is accidentally killed, many communities in Igboland will still build a coffin for the snake's remains and give it a short funeral."

Ok so she lives with my parents, but she's still mine. Pringles is 9+ y/o purebred APBT. We never registered her but her parents were registered. Greatest dog ever. She just looks dangerous. Only thing she ever attacks is food, tennis balls, the stray cat stupid enough to venture into the backyard when she's there ( not that I encourage that ). She does have a sense of wariness around 'shady' people and gives them a warning if they come too close. All the kids in the neighborhood love her and when our neighbors' were younger, they used to come knock on the door and ask if she could come out to their yard and play. She's also learned that babies in high chairs mean free snacks.

I have never met a dog with more personality than this one. To think that I used to hate pitbulls - I had a stupid neighbor who used to chase us around with his when I was younger - and lobbied hard against my family getting her while I was out of town ( my cousin's husband breeds them and happened to have a litter when they my family was visiting while I was away ). I dont think I could ever own any breed other than a good ol' APBT.

Nice. What is that? It looks to me like a brown water snake but not so sure. BTW, how low do you think those turtles can handle in terms of temps? I'm probably going to have to keep them in the garage at the new place and wanted to see if I could just let them hibernate through the winter and only leave the filter running to prevent the tank from icing over.

Can anyone suggest a reptile that can be handled and is a vegetarian? I'm not interested in iguanas and would prefer to avoid live foods (the wife has insisted that there will be no crickets or fruit flies allowed in the house).
