I was hoping they wouldn't collect.

Now lawyers are going to have to add this onto what they are suing for. Making them more money, costing insurance company more, and somehow it's going to be all our fault and come out of our pockets.

But it's never the lawyers or insurance companies being greedy?

There was no way they were going to collect after this case got out and everyone knew about it. They had to make it look like they weren't just rolling over and letting her keep the money, but to actually collect would have not only been heartless, but ultimately the backlash would have created major problems for them.
