Bad Experience of Lending Money Again

How many of you had bad experiences of lending money to your friends such as they start to avoid answering your calls and/or return the money MUCH later than the mutual agreed date?

Lending/borrowing money is an uncomfortable experience for both parties and usually a good way to get rid of unwanted friends. LOL

Yeah when I lend money to friends and they don't pay me I usually end up breaking their thumbs or kneecaps. As such I usually have a very low rate of default on loans.

My dad always told me the word "friend" is thrown around too loosely by most people. If you have to wonder whether or not you can trust someone, they are not a friend. He also told me, when the music stops don't be the putz without the chair.

I feel the closeness of the two answers in the poll is interesting. It's almost 50/50, i.e. we have one out 2 ppl(even though the data pool is small) is having uneasiness about lending money recently. In effect, this poll shows this phenomenon is quite common in our life.

I have lent money to people knowing that it would be a while before I was paid back - but even so, when enough time goes by, it can become an issue.

I try never to borrow money from anyone other than my parents. I figure they have to love me, no matter what. It's hard for me to even let people buy me dinner.

I dont "lend" anyone money, If I can afford it I just give it to them, JUST ONE TIME, and it comes with a deal, NEVER and I mean NEVER ask me for any again. Then there are no repayments to be had and no hard feelings. I would sell my Kidney before I would borrow money from anyone, if I dont have the cash for something I dont really need it.
