The easiest way to get there is by train. Driving to midtown sux. You will pay a fortune in parking or parking tix. You will sit in hours of traffic. I would take the ferry then take the train.

your best bet going from SI is take an express bus - one of those Academy buses. It drops you off on Madison Avenue and 42nd and you just walk a block or two. I did that commute for years.

If you insist on driving, go over the Goethals Br, go up the NJTP, take to the Lincoln Tunnel, cross town over to Lex. Best bet to park would be on 43rd, somewhere near 3rd or 2nd - you will have to pay $. There wont be any street parking - park in a garage.

If you are an adventurer, drive to the ferry, take the boat, walk up to Battery Park, take 6 train to GCS, and you are short walk away. But this will take you the longest.

Don't drive, you will hate it...not only the traffic but the cabs and other drivers make it hell. If you get the job subscribe to great reefing magazines and take the train...it goes right there. :) That is a great area to work in.

Is this a 6 figure job? Hook me up J/K!! Reason I said this because have you seen what parking cost these days in Manhattan? Take the ferry, train or express bus.
If you still insist on driving pick me up and drop me off downtown.

thanks alot guys... i actually dont know what actual position they are going to be interviewing for but all i know is they have seen my resume and want to interview me for a managment opportunity so we will see what happens... i could use the extra extra money and my reef would love the extra money as well...

well to get back to what everyone is saying thank you all for all the input i was actually going to drive down to make things a little more comfortable for myself since i havent been on an interview in 3 years  and am a little nervous. i actually feel better that some of you said that its a great area and a good company.

i dont mind paying for a garage for one day but i could always take the ferry or bus..

Good luck on the interview Tony!
And if you do choose to drive, leave yourself a LOT of time to get there, the traffice is awful...and the parking in that area just for the interview alone will set you back $40-50+

Im still trying to figure out how you are interviewing for a company you dont know anything about and for an unknown position.

Well, good luck anyway! And I echo everyone else, take the train. It will keep your sanity in place.

Some insurance company contact people that have certain qualifications, like college degrees or management experience, for positions in selling insurance. They will training these people to be broker or office management type work.

If you get there early enough you can get parking for a flat rate, which can be $20-$25 for the whole day.

Tony,

DOn't know if you see this before you leave...

Take one of the Atlantic Express buses that run on Hugenot & Woodrow. I don't remember which one stops there, the X23 or X24. They both run that route but in opposite directions. Either way, they both take 34St. to Madison Ave and then run north.

By the way, there is metered parking but you have to be there super early or lucky to get it.

Tony I work in that area....DO NOT DRIVE. I drive sometimes and always have a problem when a company car picks me up i have a problem. But if u must Drive and u can get to 1st. ave then take 1st. ave. Its like a small raceway and will get u uptown in no time. Good Luck on getting the Job..oh and parking around the area will run u about $20-$40...if u get to some spots before 9 a.m. u can park all day for like $20 plus tip if ur generous.

ny life

this is just my opinion, but anytime an Insurance co. such as met life or nylife calls you it is for a position to sell insurance/investments. You are on 100% commission, and they tell you to start by calling your friends, etc...most people fail at this...just my opinion but sounds like a waste of time to me.

Tony, like everyone else have said, take mass transit there, DO NOT DRIVE.

Also, It wouldn't hurt if you called them and asked exactly what position they're hiring you for, or at least the department. I recommend you do this so that you can be better prepared, and both you and the company won't be wasting each other's time. If the company is being vague about the position/department, I'd have second thoughts about them. Although NY Life is a very reputable company.

With that said, good luck.
