Satellite TV

I'm considering getting Satellite(finally) and was wondering if there is any real reason to choose or not choose Directv over Dish Network or Vice versa?

Before folks respond, cable is not an option and Fios is a long term dream.

Well Direct TV seems to be the best satellite out at the moment they will also have a lot of HD channels soon....all cable and satellite can be affected due to weather.....it depends where u are....when i lived alone my Satellite would only go out when there is a very serious storm...other people will say it goes out everytime it rains....

Don't assume Actually it is just a quirk where I live right on the border between Time/Warner and Cablevision turf and my row of houses which are on the public street, but owned by the campus, are the only private houses on the entire block, thus neither company layed the cable The real issue is that Pratt has their own service for the campus, yet didn't deem us worthy of inclusion . Long story.

I have DirectTV and really like it! The DVR rocks. I chose it over Time/Warner because the company is terrible and will not get my money.

I agree with jim, get the HD DVR. Directv will be offering 150 HD channels very soon, they are leading the way with HD channels, no other company will even come close to having that many HD channels. Once u go HD u cant go back. I have tried dish network and i was not pleased with it. Directv is hands down the better company. Plus they have exclusive NFL rights till 2011.
