Unlocking Iphone

follow the news, two companys, but are under attack from Steve's & ATT sharks.

17 y/o kid did a hard-wire hack, nothing I would out $$ on, wait a few.....

or get the "iClone" in HK.:lol2:

kathy, several groups of hackers have found ways to unlock the iphone so it can be used on any non-cdma network (cdma networks are verizon and sprint, basically those that don't use SIM cards). It's also very coveted to have an unlocked iphone overseas since there has not yet been a release outside the US, so with this new free hack, people overseas can pop in their existing SIM cards into an unlocked iphone to use on their home networks.

Companies 'lock' the phones to the their network so phones purchased through them can only be used on their network. Apple signed an exclusivity deal with AT&T for the iphone, now that the hack is out people are free to use the iphone on many networks without having to sign a 2yr contract with AT&T.

But only other GSM network in US is Tmobile, am I correct? So I think this hack is more for those oversea people than in US. Or if you already have tmobile contract and you can't wait til your contract is end.

I modded, xbox, ps2, Wii, appletv and many many more. I am sure I can do this but I just don't have money and I don't have tmobile, I got verizon. hehe.

BTW, you don't have to be a tech ppl to do this kind of mod. All you need to read the instruction very carefully and follow.

Yup, and if you have an existing AT&T account and wanted to switch phones, but you could do that without unlocking as well.

Get an HTC phone. They're just as good as the iphones and cheaper. I just got an HTC mogul on sprints sero plan. People have changed the theme to an iphone and they look and work the same and have a sliding keyboard.

BTW only reason I went with sprint is because I get 1250min, unlimited text and data, tethering for $50 a month on the sero plan. In the end after rebate Ill wind up paying $138 for the phone also. Just be in for a long wait to get it set up.
