His agent is Scott Boras........'nuff said. He WILL be testing the waters. There are only a couple of teams that can afford $30 million/year, so the contenders will be few. I think he'll get the $30 million/year and I think the Yanks will be the team to pay it.
Here's a guy on the throws of being the next legitimate home run king. He doesn't have a single team at this point in his career that he can say he'd enter the Hall of Fame wearing their uniform. It's time he establishes himself as a player for 'X' team. Obviously the Yankees can promote him (not that he needs promoting) as much as he can benefit them.
I think A-Rod remains a Yankee after this year. However, I will say that I was one of those on the other side of the fence just one year ago. I think he's finally settled into his role on the team. His interview the other day was finally an interview I can say was a turning point in his public relations. When asked how it feels to be leading the 'bigs' in HR's, RBI's, runs scored and slugging percentage and the possibility of winning MVP, he replied, 'it's nothing if we don't win the world series'. He finally won me over with his attitude. He won me over awhile ago with his athletic success. This was what put him over the top........IMO
