Ok so then what's inside of a pork bun? I only ask because the places on Avenue U would never sell me more than 6 (per person) at one time. I always figured it was a "Cool Hand Luke" thing. These were Chinese Restaurants (no take out) I also think they were Legit because the only thing in English in the whole place was the:
"Not Responsible For Lost or Stolen Articles" which is just a NYC main stay of any restaurant.

They also had that breakfast egg thing which just rocks.

The pigeons are NOT being netted for food. They are sold to hunting clubs in Pennsylvania and other states. Basically its target practice...instead of clay pigeons, the real ones are released. Those that aren't blasted to feathers presumably make their way back to NYC. (I highly recommend the book "Pigeons"...I forget the authors name...but its about pigeons and pigeon hobbiests- who make reefkeepers seem calm and indifferent to their hobby. The book gives the full story of the pigeon netters.) Pigeon is eaten- its called squab- but these are baby pigeons raised on farms, mostly in the Carolinas and California. I must say it is excellent...probably the best tasting poultry in existance. There is enough meat on one to make a meal...more is better though....Take care, Eric

there are people who capture pigeons legally and I see this as one way for the nut job animal activists to cause problems for legal pigeon wranglers. If I cared enough I would offer a $3000 reward for any one from the whatever foundation bound and gagged. They need to be deprogrammed and made to care about real world problems (not the disappearance of NYC pigeons...Boohoo). Lets export them and sic them on the illegal coral collectors overseas. Maybe they could actually help a worthy cause.

Yeah pigeon is good but really small and has almost no meat on it compared to out genetically engineered chicken.

I just wonder what that meat is inside a wonton.

i think this is a rhetorical question but i'm going go out on a limb here n answer it anyway.

heres some info for all thats not familar with real chinese food. there r 2 types of wontons. real chinese ones n the fake. only a few restaurants in chinatown sells the real ones with pork n large shrimps inside. and the skin is thin but does'nt break easily.
don't even ask what the fake ones have inside. u dont wanna know.:lol2:

Dont forget the ones that go in chicken soup.

you guys have your races a little confused.italians eat pigeons.i havent heard many stories of asians eating them.cats and dogs yes.never pigeons.poor burt must be devastated :lol2: pigeons are a leading cause of childhood asthma.they have toxic feces and carry mites that make alot of people sick.i say good ridence

Actually, cats and dogs are for the older days. Newer generation do not eat any of those.

We do like baby pigeons even now. It's a favorite for many. It may not make such a big thing in the US probably as someone stated "where is the meat." I like to eat them too(of course farm rasied) but I also like to keep them as pets. I just rescued a baby this morning which I cannot find it's nest anywhere in the whole back yard-probably some cat take down it's nest.

There are no people legally capturing pigeons in NYC as it is illegal to do so.
