i was reading the daily news today and was happy to read that the yankees have told AROD and his agent to "SIGN AN EXTENSION OR BEAT IT".i was disturbed to see the yanks try to deal with AROD despite there no deals till end of the season,went and tried that after dismissing one of the greatest yankees ever MARIANO RIVERA,and of course jorge.hey the guy has been great and you cant ignore the numbers but why try and make a deal if this guy has never in his history produced in the playoffs?i for one have to see with my own eyes AROD help the yanks win a world series.WAY TO GO YANKS!!.

good to hear. However, his price will go higher end of the season then sign him now. There will be couple of teams will get him end of this year. I guess it's all depend how much he wants to have a ring. If he really wants the ring, he should take little less money and stay here in Yankees, or if he wants the most money then he should wait out til end of the season and start the bidding war.

I hope they stick to their guns as well. But we all know what that means......Clemens wasn't being offered any special 'off days' last year for negotiations. The Yankees don't do that for anyone. Unless you are Clemens.
No negotiations with Mariano or Jorge until their contracts expire.....because they don't negotiate with ANYONE until that time. Well we see that's the case unless you're A-Rod.
The Yankees are straying farther and farther from their roots and policies so long as it meets their needs. They say, "SIGN AN EXTENSION OR BEAT IT" in July. When October comes around we'll see what BEAT IT means.
I'm becoming more and more disgruntled with Yankee mgmt.

I agree with masterswimmer. Mgmt. (Cashman) is an issue but even if he is gone. You have to hope that george doesn't go back to his old ways and hire someone he can control. Mlb should have looked closely at lifting his ban and probably added some stipulations.. I'm off topic... Cashman has his good and bads. He stands up to George and Doesn't play with contracts, He knows we have a pitching problem and he has filled the minors with some prospects.. but he lets go of younger good talent for older established players who have past their prime. I'm not saying that about Arod, he is doing his thing, but he's no Mr. October.

I'm not concerned about George anymore. Unfortunately his health has declined and he no longer plays much of a role in the teams' mgmt. His son in law is the one in charge now. Giving Cashman free reign and total autonomy has been the issue.

I'm also thinking that Torre has reached the end of his managerial usefulness. I just don't see the fire in him anymore. Supposedly he still 'lights up' when the media isn't present and gives some heated motivational tirades behind closed doors, but it doesn't appear to be effective. I'm thinking Joe Girardi next.

I am Mets fan and I am not a Yankee hater. I do admired how Yankees dedicated to this game and not afraid to spend money, and wisely (not recently aquisition though).
People complaint about how much Yankees spend the money but hey every big franchise spend money but they don't win like Yankees does. Even if they are spending left and right, they were sticking by their tradition however this year they are ignoring what they are stand by.
First Clemens deal. They totally ignoring a true Yankee player like Bernie because he is too old. I truely believed Yankees made the right decision. And then when the things are going back and desperate, they signed with Clemens. How old is he? Is he like 46 or something? I remember him pitching for Boston back in 86.
And now A-Rod deal. They told Mariano and Jorge that they are sticking to their rule, not signing the extension before end of the year rule. And it's only July and they are forcing Arod to sign? What the hell?
Last deal, where is the royalty in this franchise? I understand player don't show their royalty to their team since they are moving around all the time. But in Yankees, they got tons of players truely want to be a Yankee player. Yet, Yankees team is the one that totally ignoring their true Yankee. Believe me, any true Yankee fan loves Bernie, as I do. However, they made the right move not signing him. They just made a worse move IMO signing Clemens.
FYI, Clemens is 44 and soon to be 45 in August.

I know. I agreed on not signing Bernie this year. Try to stay young for future. And then I hear about Clemens, that's just unbelievable.
As of today they have no intentions of going to the table early with arod. So they haven't lost their loyalty to mariano or jorge.. Honestly speaking I don't think they will be able to keep Jorge ..Mariano yes... and with arod, please the yankees can only hope that someone would pick up that contract but it's hard for teams to pick a player who's yearly salary is close to half the budget of all the Mlb teams... That kid ain't cheap.

I don't believe Jorge is going anywhere. I think he'll be back for another 3 year deal. Guess we'll have to wait till October (hopefully November

First of all how can they not afford Jorge, they just gave an old goat 20 plus million. Jorge at this time is worth much more then clemens..... second, as for letting Bernie go and replacing him Damon was just as stupid as can be.. Went from bad arm, to no arm. Defensive theres not much of a difference. Bernie has always been a money player for the yanks. and Damon is always getting hurt. Yanks are living in over the hill player moment. instead of searching for talented youth. i think if the Yankees don't make the play off they will be making big changes next year..You will probably have T. Hunter play center field for ya.. But stay away from Santana if they don't want to have any beef with me.....Leave him to my mets....
