Has anybody seen it yet? My son saw the 12:03 showing on opening night. He said he wished he could have seen it a second time immediately after it ended. He loved it.

I'll be going with him this weekend to IMAX to see it in 3D.

I've read all the books twice now. I'm stoked for year 7's release.


BTW..... This thread is not I repeat NOT meant to be a spoiler for anyone. So please don't post anything here that could ruin the movie for a potential viewer.

I saw it this afternoon. It was excellent. I had my reservations about Imelda Staunton's Umbridge going in, but she's excellent. Both funny and scary. As far as the teen actors go - this is the best acting I've seen them do so far. They're really coming into their own. The screenplay is very well stream-lined - in a way just a skeleton of Rowling's book. But everything moves at a nice pace. I was perhaps just a bit disappointed by the showdown at the Department of Mysteries. I remember reading the book - where this sequence goes on for many pages - and thinking that Rowling wrote it like a screenplay. It's dizzying. The movie covers very little of it. But for those who don't know the books - that won't mean anything. I highly recommend it.

I'm told the Ministry of Magic looks absolutely amazing in the movie. I'm so psyched to see it.

Of much greater interest is the coming #7. Can't wait. Just finished rereading #6 to get in the mood.

These are NOT childrens books. When Rowling started the series they were possibly intended for children. Remember, in book #1, Professor Quirrell dies and sorcery is the theme. Not sure if that's children appropriate.

I just finished re-reading all 6 books for the second time in preparation for 7 also. Obviously I'm guessing here, but what about Regulus Black for RAB. I don't know what his middle initial is though. Just a thought.

FYI, the movies are great to see, but the books are incredible to read. No comparison IMO......although, the movies do seem to be getting much better as they progress.

It's always been 7/21, as far as I know.

I thought books 5 & 6 were the best so far. Re-reading them was imperative to #7. There is SO MUCH in both of those books that you could forgo re-reading 1-4. JMO

I just reread #6, and put myself on the preorder list for number 7. Borders is having a %40 off sale if you preorder. The list price was a crazy $34.99!

Book 6, I remember I hated Harry's attitude so much. I understand he is going thru the teenage period but come on!! He was always yelling at his friend and Dumbledore and everyone else. And whole book was building up the story up to see the prophecy, but it was nothing more than what we all knew since book 1.

And book 7 was great accept the last part where they are all in the hospital bed, and they are talking about love. Yeah, it's great but they just lost one of the best character in the book and they are smiling and laughing? What happened to this picture here? I was actually very mad about the last part of the book.

I am kind of mad about JK Rowling. I think she is trying to distance herself from Harry Potter. And I really don't like her approach in Harry Potter book. It seems she just want to finish up and kill everyone at the end.

I really think she will kill Harry Potter on Book 7. I think I am going to be really mad after 7/21.

I am going to re-read book5 and 6 tonight. Hopely I will like it better this time but I doubt it.

I've never pre-ordered the previous books. Wal-Mart always has pallets full of them on the night of release. I'll be there at midnight.......and won't be online until I'm done :biggrin:

Oh, and Wal-Mart never sells them at retail. The last one was $20. Not sure about #7 but I can't imagine it would be much more.

The RAB has been confirmed and it is Regulus Augustus Black, Sirius brother. Also the locket, that they couldn't open in Sirius Black's house, is the locket that was taken from the cave.

Why re-read them? Just listen to the MP3 of each book.

I agree about Harry's scar being a horcrux. It's the perfect way for him to have to die.

So who is going to die in book 7?

I think Voldemort will die from big battle between Harry. Possibly Harry dies from this battle but not before Voldemort, but I hope Harry survive.

But there has to be big surprise. Someone else who Harry truely love must die, that's what happened in previous books anyway.

Perhaps, Ron and Hermione? Try to give some power to Harry, maybe one of them sacrifice? I think this will shock everyone since these are the most beloved characters since beginning.

Hagrid? He doesn't have any special power. Since he is half giant, got great magic resistance but can he handle Voldemort magic? I doubt it.

Lupin and Tonks? Is JK Rowling tries to lighten up the book by let them marry end of the book or kill on of them so it will be sad end?

What about Snape? What is his real side? Is he going to fullfilled the trust from Dumbledore and help Harry to kill Voldemort? Or is he going to be evil like Harry believes.

Any death eater going to die in this book? I think Wormtail has to die, I don't really like him anyway. Draco and his father need to die also. as well as Bellatrix.

Well, now I am getting back to Harry Potter, I am getting very excited about Book 7.

I thought Harry's crankiness and rage in Book 5 were perfectly reasonable. He is at that age and at some point the crap has to hit the fan, one figures. He's got every reason to be angry at the world.

I don't sense that Rowling is distancing herself from Potter as much as she's refusing to be sucked into that world that wants more and more and more. She committed to 7 novels and it's so easy to write just one more because it's what everyone wants and because I'm sure she could double her fortune for just one more. It must be hard, but I admire her for not caving in. She once said that she could kill Potter just so that no one else would write a book about him, but I suspect she was being tongue-in-cheek. I would actually be very surprised if she kills him. I'd also be surprised if she killed off Hermione - since she always said Hermione was her favorite character. Which leaves Ron...who knows. I think Hagrid will be one of the two fatalities. But everyone is fair game.

Regulus Black being RAB has been speculated on the web (reasonably so), but I've never seen it confirmed by anyone. Who confirmed it?
