Just finished up in London, heading to Italy tomorrow, France and Kenya yet to come. In the meantime ...

The weather has been terrible. This is the Tower Bridge. In fact, it's as terrible as it was in February when I was last here.

In case you don't believe me, this is February 2006.

Though there have been some brief breaks in the incessant drizzle.
This is St. Paul's Cathedral.

Buckingham Palace. I hate palace tours, so I only ever see the royal residences from the outside. One of my british friends accused me of being sort of "america-centric" because of this, but I pointed out that I also refuse to tour the white house. They are boring. Unless it's a castle, I don't want to see it.

In other news, apparently my auto-top off decided to malfunction two days after I left New York, pumping about five extra gallons of freshwater into my tank and about five more on the floor, destroying a power strip in the process. My roommate says everything looks fine. I'm not sure I believe her, but I choose not to think about it.

THanks all! My roommate does have an emergency number to call when things go wrong, though hopefully nothing else will go wrong. :/ Thanks for the offers and if I am starting to feel really antsy about things, I will take you up on it.

Herculaneum was buried in the 79 AD eruption of Vesuvius the same as Pompeii. This is from the House of Neptune there.

Women's Bath, also from Herculaneum

En Vogue just came on the speakers at the Internet cafe I'm at - I'm pretty sure that's some kind of sign for me to make a swift exit.

Wow, looks like I've missed a little MR drama. Can't say I'm sorry about it. :) Word on the street is that my fishies are still swimming around and I just found an unlocked wireless network at work, so things are looking good (well, for everything by my productivity).
