storm today (actually yesterday) wrecked trees, flight plans and my night's sleep. I just got back from retrieving my parents from the airport and delivering them to my grandmother's home in NJ - they landed over 4 hours late!!!!

I get up in about three hours, shop and cook for 14 adults and 3 kids, graduate with my Master's degree, celebrate and then (probably) collapse.

Good night, MR, and have a great day tomorrow!

I'ts over. The day was long, the ceremony was TOO LONG, the food was over-plentiful and very well-received. My refrigerator is bulging at the seams!!!

I am tired, but I am exhilarated and scared as anything, as now the rest of my life lies ahead of me with no barriers except those i place in front of myself, or those I unwittingly placed before myself in the past.

Lacing up my jumping shoes --

have a great weekend, MR! Thanks for your support!!!

congratulations Tahl! From what I have seen, you will be scared for all of 5 minutes. Then, you will be tearing down any old barriers two fisted and dashing and diving around any that try to pop up in the future :)

'Grats again Tahl......

I meant to ask you, why was the guest of honor doing the cooking for 14 adults and 3 children on HER special day? Shouldn't the 13 other adults and 3 children have prepared the special dinner for her? :scratchch

Hope you enjoyed

Swimmer - a very interesting question, indeed...

Boils down to - everybody knows that I can COOK, and there was no way I could take everyone out, and nobody offered... and there HAD to be a meal afterward, so.....

The day before, my grandparents told me they'd cover all the costs, which was very nice of them!

So I cooked but didn't have to pay for the food... In a way, I think it was okay since it helped take my mind off the graduation itself - which was very emotional.

Imagine this - graduate from the Jewish Theological Seminary with four other schools, Rabbinical, Cantorial, Undergrad and Graduate (I was in the Education school) - and the commencement speaker's topic? Holocaust and how we have been changed by it, what the Jewish American Response has been - how the Jewish community has embraced other communities...
And the commencement speaker was a non-Jewish German historian with such deep "perpetrator guilt" that she broke into tears several times and took us with her... Not exactly your typical commencement speech, but also not exactly your typical commencement...

...I'm glad I don't wear make-up! It was a tearful day. Coming home and cooking/hosting a party was a good way to re-center after that!
