Diamondbacks are not legal to own in NY State, possibly other states. They are a protected species, along with box turtles, wood turtles, and bog turtles. They are also not the easiest turtles to keep in my experience. Take care, Eric

They are awesome turtles. I took care of a pair of them for a year while I was aquarist at Soundwaters. I know they aren't legal to keep but I'm above the law. I think I can try and get a permit from CT state to keep them, maybe do some kind of rescue thing???
